Several residents used the council's public-comment periods to raise community concerns at the April 6 meeting.
A local resident identified as Chris spoke about an LED streetlight outside his home that he said is very bright and high in blue color temperature, and urged the city and utility to consider warmer (about 2,700K) fixtures to reduce sleep and ecological impacts. He referenced information he said is available at softlights.org and described personal health effects and difficulty sleeping. He said he had discussed the matter with the street department and the utility (Edison) but had not obtained a resolution.
Josh Brown, director with the local soccer organization, said the current season is the largest in a decade with nearly 400 children participating at Ralph Park on Saturdays. He asked the city for assistance directing traffic and helping pedestrians cross Cass Road on overlap weekends when softball tournaments coincide with soccer play, saying the safety of children and congestion in parking areas were his primary concerns.
Michael Tyson (Monclova Township), speaking for Bowling Green State University outreach, invited council and nearby jurisdictions to a Northwest Ohio data-center town hall planned for Oct. 13 at Bowling Green and asked for a speaker/panelist to join the program.
Council received the comments; two items (streetlighting and traffic control) were raised as requests for staff follow-up rather than formal agenda items.
