The Escambia County Opioid Abatement Board voted unanimously to extend the contract for the Lake View OPUS program through the end of May 2026, allowing the provider to use award funds that were not expended earlier in the contract period.
A Lake View OPUS representative told the board the notice to proceed had been issued April 9, 2025, and that earlier SAMA-funded work covered part of the contract year, so the program did not use abatement funds for roughly two months. "We haven't used the last two months of the contract and that's why we're asking," the representative said, explaining the extension request was intended to allow Lake View to complete the work originally funded.
Board staff confirmed the original contract would otherwise expire May 1 and that extending to the end of May would allow the provider to expend the remainder of its award. After the presentation, a board member moved to extend the contract, the motion was seconded and the board carried the measure by unanimous vote.
The extension was described as an operational change to permit full use of previously awarded funds, not an increase to the award amount. Board staff also noted the board will reissue a notice of funding availability in June or July for remaining funds in the opioid abatement account.
The board did not record individual roll-call votes in the public remarks; staff recorded only that the motion "carried unanimously."
