RSU 40 policy committee advances community-use policy and updated facilities form to school board

The RSU 40/MSAD 40 policy committee voted to forward Policy KF, governing community use of district facilities, and an updated facilities-request form to the school board for action.

Committee members discussed a wording change that replaces the term “principal” with “building administrator” so the policy covers principals and assistant administrators who act on-site. Members also flagged formatting issues on the KFE form (telephone/email field sizes, where the governing policy is cited) and agreed the form should reference or attach Policy KF to reduce confusion for users. The committee recorded the motion to send Policy KF to the board for first and second readings (vote recorded as 7-0) and separately moved the facilities-use form to the board for approval (vote recorded as 7-0).

Committee members said the changes are intended to make roles and expectations clearer for building staff who manage facility requests and to reduce follow-up questions from the public. They also noted that most facility users are repeat groups at community schools and that attaching the policy to the form would simplify compliance for renters.

The committee also confirmed the district will review fees on the form to ensure they reflect current costs. The items will appear on the school board agenda for the next available meeting.
