Council forms three-member interview committee for city administrator search

The committee moved into executive session to discuss appointments related to the city administrator search and reconvened to nominate and select the interview committee.

Council members discussed updates to the city administrator job description and the need to clarify the administrator's authority compared with department directors and the municipal clerk, noting the city’s charter and the difference between an 'administrator' and a 'city manager.' Council members agreed that the job description and related ordinance language should be clarified before hiring.

Following executive session, members each nominated up to three residents to serve on the interview committee. Multiple nominations were proposed; after votes, the three members the committee recorded as selected were John Ser, Carla Lewis and Corey Wagner.

Council members indicated they would proceed with interviews using that committee; the committee selection concludes the meeting's personnel action steps for this stage of the administrator search.
