Board approves consent agenda including hires, resignations and field trips; budget update notes fiscal stability ahead of bond vote

The Sweet Home School District board approved a consent agenda that included approvals of multiple staff hires and resignations (for example, the athletic director hire of Thomas Rosa effective August 2026 and several teacher hires and resignations with effective dates in August and June 2026) and authorized out‑of‑state field trips for student groups (a trip to Tokyo in June and an FFA trip to Indianapolis in October 2027).

During consent‑agenda consideration a board member moved to remove the minutes for separate discussion; that motion failed and the board approved the full consent agenda by voice vote with at least one recorded nay.

Following the consent vote, Kevin (speaker 12) presented the monthly budget update. He said the district is about 83% through the fiscal year and year‑to‑date spending is approximately $987,000 above the same point last year, largely attributable to higher PERS rates; staff said that increase had been anticipated in the adopted budget and that the district expects to end the year in a stable position.

Kevin handed out the proposed 2026–27 budget and said it does not yet reflect the bond; if the bond passes in the May 19 election the administration will update the budget document and review changes at the May 20 budget meeting.

No formal board action was taken on the bond at this meeting beyond scheduling budget review; personnel hires listed on the consent agenda will take effect on the dates recorded in the consent packet unless otherwise changed.
