Wood County Sheriff Shawn Becker used his April 1 WFHR appearance to mark the 31st anniversary of the unsolved killing of Dedra Weeks and to renew a public plea for information.
"Somebody knows something," Becker said, urging residents to contact Crimestoppers or call dispatch with anonymous tips. He identified Lieutenant Scott Goldberg as the investigator overseeing the case and said the department continues to review files and follow leads, although none of the current staff were on the force when the crime occurred.
Becker emphasized the family's ongoing need for answers and asked the community to come forward if they have information that could help close the case. "The family deserves to know," he said.
During the same segment, Becker also noted several officer‑in‑the‑line‑of‑duty anniversaries in the county and region, naming Jason Wy, Trevor Casper of the Wisconsin State Patrol and Craig Burkholtz as officers whose deaths the department remembered, and reflecting on the hazards of policing.
Anyone with information about the Weeks case was urged to contact Crimestoppers or the Wood County Sheriff's Department dispatch; Becker said anonymous tips are accepted.
