The Avon Community School Corporation board opened its meeting by celebrating student achievements across schools, issuing resolutions of commendation for multiple state and world champions and honoring the class of 2026 valedictorian.
The board read and approved resolutions for the Avon High School Indoor Winds (seventh consecutive state title and multiple world-class championships), the AHS World Drumline (thirteenth consecutive state title) and the AHS World Guard (noted state finishes and national placements). "Your excellence 13 years in a row is an amazing feat," Mr. Langford said of the drumline. Each commendation was approved on motions and recorded as unanimous 5'0'00 votes.
Trustees also recognized Hrithik (Rithik) Sankar as valedictorian of the Avon High School Class of 2026, reciting academic honors including a reported 5.562 GPA and national recognition; the board approved a resolution commending his achievements. The board presented HOSA competition commendations to Tanmeet Kaur (state champion in pharmacology and occupational health and safety) and noted plans to recognize an absent HOSA student at a future meeting.
In addition, the board recognized several third-grade students designated by the Indiana Department of Education as "National Math Stars" based on iLearn results placing them in the top 2% statewide; administrators distributed certificates and medals.
Board members praised students and staff throughout the remarks and took photos with the honorees. Each recognition item was approved by unanimous vote.
