Board approves personnel actions, handbook updates, donation and monthly financial reports

The Western Boone County Community School Corporation board handled a slate of administrative and routine business during its meeting.

Personnel and recognitions: The board approved personnel items and recognized new and departing staff. David Jost was introduced as a new assistant principal for 2026–27. Dr. Becky Boddicker was welcomed as a new business manager; a board member said of Boddicker, “her experience and her education are off the charts.” The board also announced Jeff Christner’s move to director of technology and noted bus driver Margaret Beasley’s retirement after 13½ years.

Minutes, personnel and transfers: The board approved the minutes of its April 13, 2026 meeting and approved recommended personnel actions, nonresident enrollments (including Easton Klein and Heidi Cox for 2026–27) and intra-district transfers for Sofia Serrano and Autumn Kearney as presented.

Donations and claims: The board accepted an anonymous $500 donation to the Western Boone baseball program. The treasurer reported two out-of-the-ordinary claims: $1,500 to Indiana Special Olympics for a partnership program and $6,000 to McKibben Demographic Research for a demographic study; the board approved the claims.

Finance report: Finance staff reported April 30, 2026 balances: Education Fund cash balance $5,589,624 (April expenditures $989,929; 29% of 2026 appropriation expended) and Operations Fund cash balance $2,932,929 (April expenditures $406,378; 28% of appropriation expended). Staff also listed year-to-date interest income by institution and noted an ongoing reconciliation with KeyBank statements.

Handbook and appointments: The board approved 2026–27 handbook revisions summarized by Mr. Rausch, which included updates on acceptable snacks and drinks, athletics changes for fifth grade, department updates and transportation rules reviewed for clarity. The board also appointed Linda Ray and Kyle Whiteley to the Greater Jamestown Area Fund Board for terms from 05/19/2026 to 04/30/2028.

Announcements and adjournment: Administrators announced graduation and end-of-year events and noted the high school band received a state-level music award. With no further business the board adjourned.
