Commissioners praise Millville City crews after heavy snow; mayor to present Office on Aging summary

Commissioners used the Feb. 27, 2026 work session to publicly thank city employees for their response to a recent snow event and to preview an upcoming summary of county services for elderly and disabled residents.

"I just want to thank all of the employees that came to work on Monday during the snow," Commissioner Taylor said, naming streets and roads, parks, the water and sewer departments, fire, police, OEM and EMS and singling out OEM coordinator Bill Statnik for coordination. "They all did a great job."

Commissioner Kasaboon echoed the praise, noting crews worked 16 to 18 hours and faced downed trees and difficult conditions, and said she had received reports from residents commending the crews’ work despite some resident complaints about power. Vice Mayor Cot and other commissioners also praised interdepartmental coordination.

Mayor Dixon said she had met with Lisa Williams from the Office on Aging and plans to present a brief summary at the next meeting outlining county programs and services for elderly and disabled residents, along with a short written guide to direct callers to appropriate services.

The public-comment periods produced no speakers. After brief closing remarks and expressions of thanks, a motion to adjourn passed by roll call and the meeting ended.
