Patrick County school board certifies closed meeting, denies grievance 20225-2026-01

The Patrick County School Board certified that a recent closed meeting complied with the Virginia Freedom of Information Act and voted to deny grievance 20225-2026-01, the board said. Miss Harold recused from the formal vote.

A clerk read a resolution stating that the closed meeting had been convened and conducted in accordance with the Virginia Freedom of Information Act and with the requirements of Code of Virginia section 2.1‑344(D). The resolution states that only public business lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements was discussed and that only the matters identified in the motion convening the closed meeting were considered.

An unnamed board member moved "I make a motion to deny the relief requested in grievance 20225-2026-01 and modify the superintendent's decision to deny the removal of either letter." The motion was seconded, brought to a vote and carried. The transcript records multiple members saying "yes" during the roll call; Mr. Martin is recorded as voting yes and Miss Harold is recorded as recusing herself from the vote.

The board then moved on to other business and later adjourned the meeting.
