Resident asks whether jail notifies ICE; warden says facility honors detainers and coordinates pickups through Pike County hub

During the public-comment period, resident Lauren Cummings Orridge asked the board: "What is our current policy on notifying ICE officials when we have a prisoner being released?"

Warden Brady replied the facility does not accept immigration detainees under contract but does honor detainers lodged on local arrestees. When a local arrestee with a detainer is being released, staff contact immigration officials and request they "come and get" the individual; the warden said immigration officers in the region typically respond promptly and transfer steps are coordinated through a regional hub at Pike County Correctional Facility.

The warden said that of roughly 611 people in the jail that day, about five had immigration detainers, and that administrative detainers do not necessarily hold a person in jail the same way a judicial warrant would. The warden explained that staff distinguish between judicial warrants (which must be honored) and administrative detainers (where immigration is notified and asked to pick the person up if they intend further detention).

The resident who asked the question thanked the warden for the clarification and said she was concerned only that the county was following procedure.
