The Marshfield Police & Fire Commission took the following formal actions at its March meeting:
• Approved minutes of the Feb. 12, 2026 regular meeting.
• Approved three sets of police department bills and two sets of fire department bills after brief clarifications about line items and training costs.
• Voted to recommend immediate hiring of one police officer to fill an approved vacancy (motion passed by roll call).
• Approved a budget resolution to transfer grant/donation funds and proceed with solicitation to buy a UTV equipped for wildland/EMS response; staff cited roughly $55,000 total project cost and DNR reimbursement for the skid portion.
• Approved a memorandum of agreement permitting ambulance transport of injured law‑enforcement K9s to approved veterinary care with the handler aboard; staff will assemble canine care kits and coordinate with partner agencies.
• Directed staff to solicit bids for replacement of the fire station alarm system under the 2026 CIP; the project is expected to be funded through the capital improvement program.
• Reviewed, and in some cases approved for record, multiple fire department policy updates (residency radius change to 45 miles, management exemptions and health & safety training), with remaining policies to return for review.
Several agenda items were deferred to the next meeting by request of staff.
