Board approves achievement and integration plan to fund success coaches

The school board voted to approve an achievement and integration plan that funds building-level 'success coaches' and covers the salary and benefits of the high-school Tiger Path coach, Andrea Moore. Administration said the plan, tied to partner-district arrangements, represents about $214,000 in funding needs that the district must cover if partner status changes or a partner drops eligibility.

Administration described the program as targeting reading and related supports: success coaches are drawn from counselors and interventionists not already funded from other sources and will work on reading, math and social skills; the plan requires measurable targets tied to MCA goals. The presenter said partner districts may vary and that the district can be invited to participate in another partner consortium rather than be the qualifying district itself.

Board members moved and seconded the plan for approval; the motion carried. The plan will be incorporated into district reporting and the budget process; administration noted the plan’s budget is included in larger budget documents and that details will be tracked in the district’s overall spending plan.

Next steps discussed included implementing coaches in buildings, finalizing targets based on last year’s data, and reporting progress according to the plan’s requirements.
