Volunteer turnout of 90 praised at Trail Mix spring cleanup; organizers discuss earlier dates and youth outreach

Colin Topper told the Grand County Trail Mix Committee that roughly 90 people volunteered for the spring cleanup and praised the quality of the work completed without a formal organizer. "It was impressive the event was done so well without an official organizer and that a lot of good was done for the community," Topper said, noting University of Utah students contributed 13 volunteers.

Members highlighted Emily Lessner's contribution to the event; committee notes list her as the event "MVP." The committee discussed operational changes for next year, including moving the cleanup earlier in spring to avoid muddy conditions, coordinating with outdoor programs to bring groups of volunteers, and adding tasks appropriate for youth volunteers.

The committee also discussed lessons learned for signage and work assignments to scale the event. No formal budget or funding changes were proposed at this meeting.
