Deborah Mick was recommended for a key-employee finding of suitability by the Nevada Gaming Control Board after presenting her 30-year hospitality track record and describing operational stewardship at Golden West Restaurant & Casino in Mesquite.
Mick recounted a career path from kino runner and cocktail server to long-tenured general manager roles across Strip and local gaming venues. She said she relocated to Mesquite in late 2025 to accept the general manager position with ECL Gaming and immediately moved into the community to oversee daily front- and back-of-house operations, weekly drops and monthly liquor inventories.
Mick disclosed that she returned to Nevada carrying roughly $50,000 in debt tied in part to prior gambling-related liabilities and moving expenses; she reported in the hearing that she has reduced the balance to about $36,000 and expects to lower it further by mid-year through ongoing extra payments.
ECL representatives and board members praised Mick’s management, noting Mesquite’s recent win increases and local staff retention. The board asked about managerial reporting lines and internal controls; agents reported no concerns and the motion to approve passed on the record.
