The Linn County Commission on March 30 approved routine business items, including the minutes from its March 23 meeting and claims totaling $340,414.10. The motions were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
The commission voted to award the county's HVAC service contract to Myrick Mechanical at $6,542.72 per year, which county staff said amounts to $1,635.68 per quarter for quarterly inspections. Commissioners also approved a dust-control contract with Home City Grain at $1.35 per gallon; the county-maintained cost per foot will remain $2.14 with a 200-foot minimum and a $25 application fee (a $453 minimum total cost was cited).
Randy Higdon, representing Linn County Rural Fire Emergency Management, presented Resolution 2026-05 seeking to declare multiple pieces of older firefighting equipment surplus: 26 bunker coats, 30 bunker pants, 10 wildland gear sets, about 20 suspenders and 15 older structure helmets. The commission approved the resolution and discussed rebidding to replace needed bunker gear; Higdon said the department plans to bid for 10 sets using budgeted funds.
Several brief executive sessions were convened under KSA 75-43-19 (both B2 and B4 designations were cited) for attorney-client and financial-affairs matters; the commission returned to open session and reported no formal action taken during those closed sessions.
The meeting adjourned after routine final items were completed.
