Mil Creek Park grading under way; Reine Creek turnout and trail connections move forward

County staff updated commissioners on Mil Creek Park and nearby trail work at the March 23 meeting. Staff said grading (phase one) is underway at Mil Creek Park; a transformer to power irrigation is expected to be installed soon and staff is preparing an RFP for phase two (amenities such as picnic areas and shelter locations) once utilities are in place.

On Reine Creek, staff reported early‑stage work to construct a highway turnout to support planned development of a medical center and adjacent parcels. Contractors have started earthwork and a new crossing of the highway is planned near the roundabout; staff said the design attempts to preserve sight lines and that CDOT will coordinate the highway crossing.

Commissioners and staff discussed trail design details, including trail width for accessibility (minimums were cited for three‑wheel accessible cycles) and a plank‑style bridge being built to span drainage areas. Staff noted Genoa/Genese property stakeholders are funding initial construction with the county planning to assume maintenance and management responsibility later.

No formal actions were taken; staff said the county will continue coordination with developers, CDOT and local trail builders and will bring design details and the phase‑two RFP back to the commission when available.
