Resident proposes honor-system sports-equipment kiosk for Central Park

Amanda Odell of 3449 13th Street addressed the Ashland commission during public participation on March 11 to propose installing a small honor-system kiosk at Central Park stocked with basketballs, footballs and soccer balls.

Odell said she found the idea on social media, has volunteers and donors lined up to supply equipment, and would be willing to help oversee the kiosk. She contrasted the kiosk with the library’s equipment rental (which is limited to library hours), noting many park users come on Sundays when the library is closed. City staff asked her to leave contact information and referred the matter to Mr. Murray for follow-up.

No action was taken during the meeting; commissioners invited staff review and follow-up with Ms. Odell to determine feasibility, logistics and any maintenance or liability considerations.
