Reno County appraisal staff briefed commissioners on property valuation trends for the 2019 tax year and on an upcoming personal property mailing.
The appraisal office reported that residential properties are up on average about 2 to 2.5 percent for the 2019 tax year, while some dwellings may fall in value depending on remodels or other local conditions. “Residential properties are up on the average of 2 to 2 and a half percent,” the appraisal staff said.
Appraiser staff said irrigated agricultural land values increased in many soil groups this year while dry cropland and grassland saw declines in parts of the county. Commercial values are being finalized and will be set as of Jan. 1, 2019.
The office has printed and prepared approximately 6,700 personal-property rendition forms to be mailed Dec. 31 at an estimated cost of $2,500. Those renditions are due March 15, 2019; the staff reminded commissioners that state law requires penalties for late returns that can range from 5% up to 50% depending on the property value. The appraisal office is also conducting mass valuations for watercraft, ATVs, UTVs and similar vehicles for 2019.
