Jason Edgecomb, a jail official, announced he will retire April 30 and provided an operational update to the committee.
Edgecomb told members the jail’s average daily population has increased to roughly 130–140 inmates, a rise he linked in part to recent court decisions affecting pre-trial ankle-monitor credit. "For the last couple months, our average daily population has been back up around 130 140 inmates," Edgecomb said. The facility has reopened its female pod for classification and housing.
Committee members discussed the effect of the rise on discharge planning and community services. Edgecomb said the county is pursuing memoranda of understanding with community partners (North Central and Aruka) to improve discharge planning and reduce post-release incidents. The committee encouraged prompt handling of any upcoming agreements so new leaders can continue the procurement and contracting work without delay.
