The board voted unanimously to approve a set of capital-project amendments intended to close several long-complete projects and reallocate carryover funds to provide contingency for the district’s ongoing high-school project and to fund other immediate needs.
Administration staff explained the amendment would move money out of old, closed projects into the capital contingency for the high-school bond project, cover the previously approved FPG project without dipping into the local operating fund balance, and address the Phillips Middle School drainage project. Presentation materials included a project-level spreadsheet aligned with county project numbers to make future audit trails easier to follow.
Board members asked clarifying questions about specific closed projects and whether the county had been notified; staff said the board’s action authorizes the internal reallocation and that the county will receive the amendment for its approval. The staff estimate was that roughly 80% of the remaining bond-funded work would be expended in the current fiscal year, with the balance likely to carry over into the summer.
Vote: Motion moved and seconded; the chair announced the ayes carried and the amendment passed unanimously. Staff will transmit the amendment package to the county for final appropriation.
What’s next: Administration to submit the amendment to Orange County for appropriation and provide the board a reconciliation of closed projects and remaining contingencies.
