Regional Air Quality Council staff briefed the Board on outreach and planning activities during the March 6, 2026 meeting, including updates on the Mow Down Pollution public outreach program, three recent proposals to the Air Quality Enterprise (AQE), and a request to provide a letter of support for a proposed regional ozone conference.
Jacob LaBure presented an overview of the Mow Down Pollution program, summarizing the program’s history, recent successes and planned Earth Day events. Board members discussed upcoming events and outreach strategies.
Tom Moore described three proposals RAQC recently submitted to the AQE to support air quality planning work; the transcript records discussion of prior RAQC applications and the status of existing Enterprise grants but does not specify the projects’ dollar amounts or detailed scopes.
The Executive Director of the Front Range Metropolitan Planning Organization requested a letter of support from RAQC for that MPO’s AQE proposal to host a regional ozone conference in partnership with the Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments. Executive Director Mike Silverstein confirmed RAQC staff would provide the requested letter and the Board expressed support.
Mike Silverstein also provided a legislative update, noting staff are currently tracking proposed bills that relate to air quality but were not recommending Board positions on those bills at this time.
No formal Board action (vote) on the AQE proposals or the MPO conference support is recorded beyond staff agreement to provide a letter of support and the Board’s expression of support during the meeting.
