Prairie Wind project to file conditional‑use application by Feb. 15, public commenter says

During the public‑comment period, Spencer Jenkins updated the commission on the Prairie Wind project, saying the developers held open‑house events and a commission hearing in early December and that additional landowners in the project area have expressed interest. Jenkins told the commission the project team intends to file the conditional‑use permit application no later than Feb. 15 and said the delay from an earlier Jan. 15 target date resulted from offering the same participation opportunity to newly interested landowners.

Jenkins said the project’s team is meeting privately with landowners to answer specific questions about participation, easements and what it would mean to host turbines. Commissioners acknowledged the update and did not take action on the item during the meeting.
