Weatherford Council: liaison changes approved; deed declined; city attorney transition and Motorola change order authorized

The Weatherford City Council approved several procedural and executive actions after returning from executive session, recording votes on personnel, real property, and construction matters.

On the consent and appointment side, council approved items 6b–6e and voted to confirm a slate of council liaison and board assignments (5–0). The council also recorded approval of minutes with three yays and two recusals on item 6a.

Following closed-session deliberations, council voted 5–0 to decline acceptance of a deed for a 0.559-acre parcel (Block 7, Millsap Revised Subdivision; parcel R00007345). The council then voted 5–0 to appoint the firms Taylor, Olson, Adkins, Sarala & Elam to serve as city attorney following the retirement of Ed and Kathy Zellers and authorized the city manager to begin a search for an in-house city attorney.

Finally, the council authorized the city manager to negotiate and execute a change order with Motorola on the Lake Tower construction project to increase tower height in an amount not to exceed $190,000; that motion passed 5–0.
