Simi Valley Unified board appoints principals at Simi Valley High and Apollo High

The Simi Valley Unified Board of Education announced two principal appointments April 28. On a motion by Trustee Sandlin, seconded by Trustee Daniels, the board appointed Dean May as principal of Simi Valley High School; trustees then welcomed May and he thanked the board.

Later the board addressed a vacancy at Apollo High School. On a motion by Clerk Blau, seconded by Trustee Daniels and with all trustees voting in favor, the board appointed Shawna Sarris as principal of Apollo High School. Sarris spoke briefly, thanking the board and saying she looked forward to continuing the work at Apollo.

Both appointments were reported as actions taken following the meeting’s closed session and were approved by unanimous vote. No additional conditions or staggered start dates were stated in the meeting record.
