PARSIPPANY — The transportation committee reported on routing and revenue at the May 7 Parsippany‑Troy Hills Board of Education meeting, including outside contracts and planned route work for the coming school year.
The transportation liaison told the board the committee met April 14 and discussed completing in‑district routes, extended‑school‑year transportation, and efforts to pick up out‑of‑district routes where feasible. Route picking for drivers is scheduled for June 15; work on 2026–27 routes will begin after the Genesis roll‑over.
The liaison reported the district billed Morris County Vo‑Tech $72,930 through January for field trips and other services and earned $16,197.50 from township recreation camp contracts plus $2,325 for fall festival work. The district also said it is handling other VOTEC transportation needs and will continue to seek outside routes to save money.
Board members asked whether the Vo‑Tech routing is profitable; the district reported that these contracts produce a profit. The committee said it will continue to refine routes to reduce cost and increase capacity for out‑of‑district work.
