Commission supports pursuing Meta naming rights for Eagle Landing Field and hears parklet concepts for lift stations

The commission reviewed a naming‑rights request from Meta Planning and Design and conceptual parklet renderings for city‑owned lift stations.

Staff (Speaker 2) described Meta Planning and Design’s request to rename Field A at Eagle Landing to 'Meta Field' under a four‑year sponsorship; staff said the park itself would retain the 'Eagle Landing Park' name and that the naming would be a timed sponsorship carried on signage, the rental system and a plaque. Commissioners raised no formal objections and asked staff to take the request to city council for final approval. Staff noted a four‑year fee of $12,000 was proposed.

Separately, staff showed two illustrative concepts for 'parklets' at neighborhood lift‑station sites (Fulbrook Trace and Valley Terrace). Proposed elements included art‑infused murals on brick enclosures, shaded seating, bluebonnet plantings and small play features (for example, a train motif referencing Fulshear’s history). Commissioners liked the art‑infused treatments and suggested possible Eagle Scout or volunteer involvement for installation; staff noted plant durability and supervision would need consideration.

Next steps: staff will prepare council referral language for the Eagle Landing naming request and continue developing parklet concepts for future consideration.
