Committee flags rising resignations in HHS; plans to invite department leader

The Admin & Finance Committee raised concerns May 8 about a cluster of resignations reported in the April human-resources update, noting the bulk of separations appeared to be in Health and Human Services.

Human Resources said resignation letters typically do not state reasons, so HR staff cannot always explain departures from the documents alone. Committee members suggested the turnover might reflect promotions, pay differentials or performance-related separations; a list of names included some instances HR said appeared tied to performance issues and resignations-in-lieu of discipline.

The committee asked HR to investigate and invited HHS leadership (Kelly) to appear at a future meeting or at the department’s next committee meeting to provide explanation and context for the resignations.
