District staff and presenters outlined a conceptual redesign of the Box Elder High campus intended to reduce dangerous street parking and the mix of pedestrians and buses on Main Street. Neil said the high‑school campus is tight — "we're pretty well spread out" but with constrained parking — and staff proposed purchasing an adjacent seminary building to convert that parcel into a parking area and new access drive.
The plan would relocate a softball field, create a new access drive into the natatorium parking, expand parking capacity and establish dedicated bus circulation so student and bus traffic would not mix on the main road. Presenters said the scheme would remove routine student parking from public streets and provide nearly continuous event parking on campus, but they cautioned some of the seminary parcel will be used by the seminary before the district gains full access (estimated availability around August 2027 for some parcels).
Staff described the parking access work as one of the least expensive and fastest parts of the plan and said it would be a priority to complete before the next school year if feasible. They also said some elements — field relocations and CTE building changes — will require engineering, full design and construction bids and are longer‑term.
No final decision was made; staff said the $4,000,000 rough estimate for high‑school improvements would be drawn from existing capital funds if the board approves the budget in June, and that the district will present engineering and procurement steps for board approval prior to construction.
