The Ontario City Council approved an amendment to the Grove Avenue specific plan for property located at 2042 South Grove Avenue that changes the site’s designation from commercial office to business park, enabling development of an approximately 62,000-square-foot industrial building.
Mayor Pro Tem presented the item to the council, explaining the 4.2-acre site on the west side of Grove Avenue near Philadelphia had been designated business park in the 2022 general-plan update. He said the proposed amendment brings the specific-plan designation into conformance with the general plan and would facilitate the planned industrial development. The Planning Commission reviewed the proposal and recommended approval.
There were no written comments or blue-slip speakers for the public hearing. Councilmember Bowman moved the item; it was seconded and approved by electronic vote, 4-0, with Councilmember Wapner excused.
The approval was a zoning/specific-plan amendment that authorizes the change in land-use designation; council action at the meeting was the approval vote. Council did not adopt a separate ordinance or discuss development permits for the specific project in detail during this hearing; future permits or building applications would follow the amendment.
