A school representative told the sustainability committee that negotiations over the Latimer Lane high-school solar project are still under way and that the project must complete an interconnection agreement with Eversource before work can start. "They're still in negotiations... they have to have an interconnection agreement with Eversource," the representative said.
A committee member warned of a narrow timing window for tax credits, saying, "If this doesn't get started till 2027, then we're not gonna get the tax credits." The school representative said they would raise the concern with the Board of Education and report back.
Committee members noted the project's power-purchase agreement had been expected to be executed earlier and that the schedule now looks pushed back with actual work possibly delayed until 2027. Members discussed whether the project could still meet any safe-harbor or tax-credit deadlines and whether the project would be financially viable without credits.
The committee requested that the school representatives provide an update at the next Board of Education meeting and confirm timelines and interconnection status with Eversource. No formal action was taken because the committee lacked a quorum.
