The Board of Supervisors convened as a committee of the whole to consider objections to a Department of Building Inspection (DBI) report of delinquent charges and to hear public testimony from property owners.
DBI housing inspection services representative Matt Luton told the board that, since transmitting the report, 14 items had been removed from the list. Several property owners addressed the board seeking extensions, protesting amounts or noting clerical errors. After staff and board members discussed specific entries, supervisors moved and took without objection an amendment removing the properties Luton identified.
The board then approved the amended report and adopted the resolution authorizing imposition of special assessment liens on the remaining properties. President Peskin thanked DBI staff and those who testified.
Why it matters: The resolution authorizes cost recovery through special assessment liens for unresolved code‑enforcement work. Property owners who appeared asked the department to pursue administrative resolution or provide additional case details before liening.
What happens next: DBI staff offered to meet with owners appearing today to resolve outstanding questions; the amended report and adopted resolution become the administrative basis for liening the remaining cases if fees remain unpaid.
