Community engagement officer Papenthien and communications staff presented traffic-safety educational videos to the board and previewed crosswalk, roundabout and four-way stop content produced for social media.
Papenthien opened the segment on crosswalk safety by noting pedestrian safety statistics and urging drivers and pedestrians to be cautious: "Together, we can make Saginaw Street safer for everyone," he said. In the roundabouts segment, the video explained yielding rules and urged drivers to enter only when there is a safe gap. Officer Barber appeared in a clip about four-way stops and emphasized coming to a full stop and yielding to pedestrians. Staff reported the BPAP series has drawn high view counts on social media; communications staff said the team is booked for the next three months and some requested videos may appear later in the summer.
Board members recommended additional topics such as "do not block intersections" and asked staff to coordinate rollout timing; staff said they will add topics to the queue and noted that one do-not-block installation will begin Monday for certain intersections.
