NPEDC votes to support curb‑cut request for proposed Milestone Road bike park

The Nantucket Planning and Economic Development Commission voted to instruct staff to write a letter of support for a second curb cut on Milestone Road for a proposed Land Bank bike park and asked that the chair sign the letter.

Rachel Freeman presented the proposal and said the curb cut would shift parking and access closer to the bus stop while avoiding habitat impacts further to the east. A motion was made and seconded to have staff prepare the letter to MassDOT District 5; the motion carried on a roll‑call vote with all commissioners voting in favor.

Commissioners asked for clearer mapping of the two entrances and exits and discussed the potential for the new opening to serve as an emergency exit if needed.
