Defendant sentenced to lengthy prison terms after multiple guilty pleas in consolidated case

A defendant identified in court as Steve Ray Williams pleaded guilty to a series of indictments alleging unauthorized use of a vehicle, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, abandoning or endangering a child, theft of a firearm and aggravated kidnapping. The judge accepted Williams’s pleas and imposed concurrent prison sentences under negotiated agreements, including terms of 20 years for some counts and up to 35 years on others.

The judge told Williams, "I will find that you entered your pleas freely and voluntarily," and explained that the court had found sufficient evidence to support the convictions and the prior convictions alleged for enhancement. Court paperwork and a filed notice of intent to enhance established prior felony convictions that affected Williams’s punishment ranges.

Prosecutors explained the factual bases and enhancement allegations in open court; defense counsel confirmed Williams waived pre-sentence reports and accepted the agreed punishments. The court read and provided each trial-court certification and a written admonishment explaining Williams’s ineligibility to possess firearms under Texas law.

The court ordered that all sentences run concurrently. The judge also noted credit for any lawful jail time served and provided standard admonitions about appeal waivers and immigration consequences where applicable. No further evidentiary hearings were scheduled on those plea agreements.
