Preservation director presents 2024–2025 CLG annual report; commission offered minor edits

Preservation Director Shawn DeCoursey delivered an oral presentation of the draft 2024–2025 Certified Local Government (CLG) annual report at the Sacramento Preservation Commission meeting on March 18, 2026. DeCoursey reminded commissioners that Sacramento has been a certified local government since 1996 and that the CLG annual report documents preservation activities for the Office of Historic Preservation.

DeCoursey said the draft report covers activities from October 2024 through September 2025 and highlights ongoing compliance steps such as maintaining a qualified commission, enforcing the local preservation ordinance, conducting property surveys and supporting public participation. He reported designation of 17 new local landmarks and one historic district during the reporting period and reminded the commission that the final report must be submitted to the California Office of Historic Preservation by April 1.

Commissioner Merker asked for minor administrative corrections, including updating an email address on a contact list and confirming attendance at CPF training sessions (including CEQA training). DeCoursey indicated staff would attach an updated resume Merker provided and make the requested email corrections before finalizing the report.

No members of the public registered to speak on the annual report. The commission did not take a formal vote on the draft; the item was presented for review and comment and staff will incorporate commissioner feedback into the final submittal.
