Discover Denali board member says interim director appointed, asks patience on grant requests

Abby Sarcoski, a Discover Denali board member who also represents the Chamber and the Foundation, told the Denali Borough Finance Committee April 1 that the organization has an interim director and will submit a fuller partner report to the full assembly Wednesday as it prepares grant requests.

Sarcoski said some board members had already submitted written public comments (she referenced one from "Bethany" as a fuller explanation of the organization's grant requests), asked committee members to review those submissions, and said she was available to answer questions. She said recent leadership change left the group unprepared for earlier deadlines but that the board has "made substantial progress" in the past days and weeks and is working to fill the role formerly held by Vanessa Alexander.

Committee members said they could not immediately locate the written comments and the Chair and staff agreed to email and upload the written submissions for next week's assembly meeting and to circulate them to committee members. Sarcoski then left the livestreamed call after offering to remain available to answer questions.

No formal action was taken on Discover Denali's grant requests during the Finance Committee meeting; staff agreed to distribute the written comments and the organization will present a partner report to the assembly.
