Redevelopment Commission approves short-term authorization to sign hotel-closing documents, extends authorization to April 10

Staff asked the commission to approve Resolution 2621, a short-lived authorization that would allow designated RDC officers or, as a last resort, the executive director to sign documents necessary to close on a trades-district hotel property. Staff explained the resolution exists to provide written authority that title companies can rely on if signing officers are unavailable at closing.

Commissioners discussed historical references in the resolution’s "whereas" clauses that mention prior agreements and Pure Development, clarifying that those paragraphs are background/history and are not intended to alter current legal obligations. A commissioner asked whether the March 31 expiration provided enough time; after brief discussion a motion was made to amend the expiration date and set the authorization to expire on April 10, 2026. The amendment passed on a roll-call vote.

Following no public comment, the commission then moved and seconded approval of Resolution 2621 as amended. The roll-call vote recorded four yes votes and the amended resolution passed. Staff said they would continue coordination with closing parties and would return to the commission if additional action was needed.

The authorization approved is limited in duration (expires April 10, 2026) and scope (designated signatories for closing).
