Santa Fe ISD used its April 23 meeting to honor student athletes and organizational achievements across campuses. Coaches and advisors presented team rosters, recounted competition results and thanked families and staff for support.
Coach Alyssa Hubby recognized the Santa Fe Junior High cheer team for their season, noting first-place finishes at regional events, an NCA national championship in an intermediate performance division and a third-place finish in the medium junior-high game day division at NCA Nationals. Lindseay Plight, head cheer coach and district cheer coordinator, reviewed the high school squad's historic season, including multiple first-place regional results and a seventh-place out of 76 teams finish at the UIL state competition 'the program's first top-10 state finish'and national finishes (second in varsity performance, third in game day at NCA nationals).
Advisers also recognized FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) members and TAFE students who advanced to regional and national levels, including named students who will compete at nationals. Paige Shoot, representing Girl Scouts, thanked the board and district liaison staff for outreach and described troop development across several neighboring districts.
Trustees and administrators congratulated the students and encouraged community support of spring athletics and upcoming events.
