City staff presented an update on the July 3 Independence Day celebration and said the Kingsburg Seawolves Group will again partner with the city to manage the event. Community Services Director Adam Castanada said the partnership will keep the same 50/50 split of gate receipts, donations and parking revenue as last year and that the Seawolves retained concession revenues.
Castanada said council previously set aside $30,000 toward the show and that last year about $13,000 was collected at the gate and parking combined. The city is seeking a title sponsor for the 2026 show and plans to offer a higher-benefit sponsorship package including naming rights, VIP seating and other perks. Castanada told the council staff will mail sponsorship materials to local businesses and begin soliciting regional partners.
Regarding the pyrotechnics vendor, staff said the city has worked with Pyro Spectacular for years and that this year’s contract is approximately $26,000. Castanada said Alex (staff) already signed the contract this week and that the show design will be comparable to last year’s production.
Council members asked whether sponsorship funds would be split with the Seawolves; Castanada said sponsor revenue would be applied toward the city’s fireworks costs (the two parties have a revenue-sharing agreement for gate/donations/parking). Council members praised the city’s sponsorship strategy.
No formal council action was required on this report; staff will proceed with sponsorship outreach and contract administration.
