Board approves multiple encroachments, a $3,000 performance bond and hears ditch-clearing update

The Tippecanoe County Drainage Board approved multiple petitioned encroachments and a $3,000 performance bond, and received a field update on ditch clearing and related work.

After staff review the board approved petitions including requests tied to Calvin Lesley (Tanner Scott requester) and several other crossing petitions listed in the record (including James Kellerman, Fanny Devolt, EF Haywood, Montgomery, Orian Buyers, Thomas Haywood, John Laughlin and EK Lois). The board also approved the Dismal Creek encroachment associated with the Lafayette 11B project. The petitions were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote; staff indicated these were routine following review.

Staff recommended a $3,000 performance bond for Peninsula Point Flats LLC; the board approved the bond as presented.

In an operational update, Zach from the surveyor’s office said the clearing phase on the lower Elliot ditch corridor (from Ross Road through Ivy Tech toward US 52 and northwest to the south side of Brady Lane) is complete. He said pavement removal on Ross Road/Old Brady Lane was to begin when weather allowed, Duke Energy will relocate poles, and the county will bid the two-stage ditch project once utilities are relocated. He also said the surveyor’s office expects potential partial reconstructions on other regulated drains within the next 12–18 months.
