Helotes City Council approved a routine consent agenda and several agenda items during its March 12, 2026 meeting.
The council approved consent agenda items 5 and 6 after a motion by Councilmember Sanders and a second by Macauan; the motion carried with all members saying "I."
Item 7: Nomination to the Ethics Commission
Councilmember Ko moved and Councilmember Sanders seconded the nomination of Marcos Pescetta to fill the vacancy on Place 3 of the Helotes Ethics Commission through May 2027. Council voiced support during discussion and the motion carried.
Item 8: Contract extension for vehicle maintenance
Council approved a one-year extension of the city’s vehicle maintenance contract with Gonzalez Automotive Services (doing business as Mander Automotive), extending the contract through August 2026. The extension, described by staff as an exercise of an option year following a prior competitively bid contract, was moved by Councilmember Sanders and seconded by Councilmember McGallen and approved without objection.
Item 9: Cornall parade road closures
Council approved closure of roads associated with the Cornall parade after a motion by Councilmember Sanders and a second by Councilmember Ko. Members discussed anticipated staffing costs for traffic control and last year’s configuration; staff said costs were expected to be lower than the prior year and that required officers and traffic control plans would be used.
All actions recorded in this meeting were approved; the council took no votes that failed or were tabled during the session.
