Council gives preliminary OK for traveling circus and Creary picnic; final permits to return

Stevensville — The council granted preliminary approval on March 26 for two major summer events at Lewis and Clark Park: a traveling circus (requested June 5–10, with performances June 8–9) and the Creary picnic/festival (requested Aug 6–9; event dates Aug 7–8).

Eli Madero, event representative for the circus, told council the traveling troupe needs a permit window for setup and requested overnight camping for traveling staff; he said the circus previously left the park in good condition and will provide dumpsters and sanitary services. The council approved preliminary dates and camping by roll call and directed staff to return with any veterinary and health permits and final paperwork.

For the Creary picnic, staff described planned uses including food trucks, beer tents, parades and road closures; the council approved preliminary acceptance of park use and dates so organizers can secure road‑closure approvals and alcohol permits. The council also asked staff to incorporate police and fire comments and to return traffic plans and final permit details before full approval.

Both approvals were explicitly labeled preliminary: final permits and any required safety plans, traffic management and alcohol permits must return to the council before the events proceed under full authorization.
