Mayor: Coast Guard parcel near Rancho Palos Verdes City Hall could be transferred for Wayfar's Chapel site

Mayor Paul Seo said Rancho Palos Verdes officials are working with federal authorities to pursue transfer of a Coast Guard parcel near city hall that the transcript names "Battery Barnes." He said the Coast Guard indicated willingness to consider divestiture but that the transfer process, conditions and timeline remain unclear.

The mayor described plans to reassemble and relocate the historic Wayfar's Chapel to that site once transferred and noted the chapel’s historical designation could support locating it on city property. He said any development (the mayor mentioned possibilities such as a museum or restaurant) would be a long-term project and that interested residents should follow city updates on the website.
