On March 19 the Village of Jackson Plan Commission adopted resolution 26‑11, which preliminarily assigns future land uses for several areas under consideration for the Village’s sewer‑service‑area expansion and updates the Village of Jackson 2050 land‑use plan.
Planning staff reviewed a multi‑parcel exhibit showing northeast, northwest and southwest expansion candidates, and said the work began in February 2025 to isolate areas that either have high development potential or contain existing on‑site septic that may need future conversion to sewer. The exhibit included parcels along Jackson Drive, areas near the Highway 60 interchange and a site north of Highway 60 adjacent to Living Word Lutheran Church.
Staff emphasized that tonight’s action assigns potential future land uses to properties that could be included in an expanded sewer‑service area and that the resolution is a planning step, not immediate construction of sewer infrastructure. Commissioners approved the resolution by voice vote.
The resolution advances the map amendment to the Village Board as part of long‑range sewer and land‑use planning.
