Board hires two principals after closed session; Isra Chambers and Amy Estrada to lead district campuses

After returning from executive closed session Monday evening, the Lubbock ISD Board of Trustees approved two principal appointments.

The board reconvened at 6:01 p.m. and voted to hire Isra Chambers as principal at Jupy Academy High School. Chambers, who previously taught and held administrative roles in the district, thanked trustees and said she was "honored to be here" and eager to "hit the ground running." The motion passed by show of hands and was announced as "motion carries."

Later the board approved the hiring of Amy Estrada as principal at Hutchinson Middle School; trustees made and seconded the motion and approved it by voice vote. Estrada introduced family members in the audience and said she was "honored to serve the students, staff and families" at the campus.

Trustees congratulated both appointees and recessed briefly so they could take photographs and be recognized by colleagues and the public. Both hires followed the board's executive session deliberations and were announced with the same vote pattern recorded for other motions at the meeting.

The board did not provide roll‑call tallies on the record beyond announcing the motions carried; staff noted both approvals during the meeting's reconvened session.
