Escanaba council notes Brownfield and Historic Preservation appointments; several board vacancies remain

During the April 2, 2026 meeting, the Escanaba City Council recorded several appointments and reappointments and noted outstanding vacancies on local boards.

Administration (the city manager) presented two recommended appointments to the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority—Matthew Sweenand and Thomas Worsler—and the council asked the manager to proceed with those appointments. The council also noted three reappointments to the Historic Preservation Commission: Judith Fouts, Rebecca McIntyre and Monty Morrison. The meeting record indicates the manager will make or process those appointments; the council’s role was to note and support the manager’s action.

The council also reported one vacancy on the board of library trustees, one vacancy on the housing commission and two alternate vacancies on the zoning board of appeals. No public comment was recorded on these items.
