The Rensselaer County Legislature acted on several agenda items during its special meeting on March 26.
Contract awards: The legislature voted on a resolution (G26) authorizing contract awards and amended contract amounts for the Hudson Valley Community College Applied Technologies Education Center (A-Tech) Phase 2. The clerk recorded the roll call and the measure carried with one abstention; the chair noted that one legislator abstained.
Mortgage-tax resolution tabled: A resolution concerning the annual mortgage tax expense request form (G12626) was discussed but tabled after a legislator asked for additional backup materials; Mr. Fleming moved to table the item and the motion passed, with the item to be brought back with the requested documentation.
Trustee appointment: The legislature considered a nomination to the Hudson Valley Community College board to fill a vacancy. Harry Tatanjen (introduced by the chair as a former mayor of Troy and a college alumnus) received multiple endorsements. On roll-call vote the appointment passed 15–4 and the clerk announced the motion carried.
Sewer-district appointments: A resolution to appoint members to the Rensselaer County Sewer District No. 1 board (P12826) was presented and approved by a recorded vote of 19–0.
The meeting included routine motions to dispense with reading of minutes and other procedural matters; the legislature indicated it will provide backup for the tabled mortgage-tax item at the next meeting.
