The Southwick‑Tolland‑Granville School Committee voted March 30 to authorize the issuance and sale of bonds or notes up to $792,000 to fund FY2027 capital items, including a $600,000 boiler replacement at Woodland and a $192,000 track refurbishment. The initial authorization was presented and recommended by staff and carried unanimously 6-0-0.
Chair Robert Stevenson proposed an amendment asking the district to divide the capital request into two separate warrant articles so each town receives a discrete article for the boiler and the track. The committee moved and approved the amendment 6-0-0 before voting on the amended authorization.
Committee members discussed next steps for public engagement. Stevenson and other members agreed to invite selectboard and finance committee representatives from all three towns to a special finance subcommittee or school committee meeting to review the track request and supporting materials; members tentatively set a meeting for Wednesday, April 15, subject to participants' availability. The district indicated it will prepare clear warrant language and that town officials will have time to consider the requests before their respective town meetings.
