The Pinetop Lakeside Council approved its consent agenda by unanimous voice vote after hearing public updates about local programs and businesses.
During the public-comment period, Larry McCormack briefed council members on the community center's volunteer needs and recent donations. He said food-distribution efforts were sizable (he cited 10,000 pounds distributed recently and 15,000 the month before), the thrift store has been remodeled with expanded hours planned, and a grant from "Dell Web" (reported in the meeting) will pay for about 6,000 square feet of vinyl flooring; delivery has been delayed by a backorder. McCormack said the center has applied to the Arizona gaming commission for a bingo license and is seeking larger grants to become self-sufficient; he also referenced discussions about transferring property to the community/senior center campus.
Sada Chudnaf provided details for the Project WET Water Festival on April 30, which she said is fully funded and expected to host more than 500 fourth-grade students; a volunteer training session is scheduled at the chamber on April 29 from 2:30 to 4:30.
Under the consent agenda, the mayor invited Jay Charm of the Lion Stand to explain a plan to restore off-track betting machines; Jay said Turf Paradise has agreed to resume an OTB arrangement after several years without the service. No council questions were raised about the consent items. Vice Mayor moved to approve the consent agenda; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously.
The council did not take separate action on any of the public-comment items; they were informational and some topics (facility transfers, grant applications) may require follow-up with staff.
